1. Overview & Our Commitment

Torque Auto Marketplace (“Torque”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a peer-to-peer used vehicle marketplace connecting private buyers and sellers. We respect your personal privacy and are committed to handling your information transparently, securely, and in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.

We never sell your personal contact details, private communications, or precise location coordinates to data brokers or advertising networks.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Display name, email address, phone number (for optional SMS verification), and profile photo when registering via Google Auth or email.
  • Listing Information: Vehicle details including 17-character VIN, year, make, model, trim, mileage, asking price, title status, mechanical disclosures, photos, and general city/state location.
  • Direct Communications: In-app messages, offer negotiations, and meetup spot coordination exchanged with prospective buyers or sellers.

B. Automatically Collected Technical Data

  • Usage & Performance: Anonymous browse patterns, search filter combinations, page load metrics, and client error logs.
  • Strict PII Redaction: All analytics and diagnostic loggers strip email addresses, phone numbers, full names, precise GPS coordinates, and raw authentication tokens.

3. Vehicle Data & Public Disclosures

To maintain marketplace safety and prevent fraud:

  • Public Listing Fields: When you publish a vehicle, vehicle specifications (year, make, model, price, mileage, city, state, photos, title status, and seller disclosures) become publicly viewable to all marketplace visitors.
  • VIN Decoding & Public Specs: We query public NHTSA VPIC databases to decode vehicle specifications and provide direct links to official safety recall lookup tools. We do not access or expose state DMV registration records, personal vehicle titles, or private home addresses.
  • Listing Removal: When you mark a vehicle as sold or delete a listing, it is immediately soft-deleted from all public search indexes, cached browse results, and sitemaps.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use local browser storage and minimal functional cookies exclusively to:

  • Maintain your authenticated user session.
  • Remember your vehicle comparison tray (up to 3 vehicles).
  • Store your recently viewed vehicles locally on your device.
  • Retain your analytics consent choice.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

5. Data Retention & Your Rights

You maintain full control over your personal data:

  • Access & Export: You may view all your active listings, message threads, and saved vehicles via your profile dashboard.
  • Deletion: You can delete any listing or request complete deletion of your account by contacting our team. Soft-deleted listings are purged from public visibility immediately.
  • Communication Preferences: You can mute in-app notifications or unsubscribe from transactional alerts at any time.
