Private Party Auto Financing
Buying directly from a private seller doesn't mean paying 100% cash out of pocket. Many credit unions and commercial banks offer private-party auto loans.

Lender Title Requirements
Unlike unsecured personal loans, traditional auto lenders require proof of collateral and a clean title. Here is what many credit unions and banks mandate:
- Clean Title Required: Most lenders will not finance Salvage or Certificate of Destruction vehicles.
- 17-Digit VIN Verification: The lender will check DMV records to confirm title status and check for existing liens.
- Direct Escrow / Draft: The bank will issue funds payable directly to the seller or existing lienholder upon documentation.
Exploring Financing Options
Many regional and national credit unions, banks, and local lending institutions offer private-party auto loan programs. Buyers should reach out directly to institutions to check pre-approval requirements and rates.
